Tonight it’s the premiere of one of the most special works I’ve ever had the privilege of working on.
The silent film Satan Jawa by revered Indonesian filmmaker Garin Nugroho is to be shown, accompanied by a live score for 20 piece gamelan ensemble and a 20 piece subset of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in a score composed by Rahayuh Suppangah and myself.
It’s been a joy working with these extraordinary artists, and I thank AsiaTOPA – most specifically Kate Ben-Tovim and Stephen Armstrong – for trusting me with this commission.
